National Survey on Gender-Based Violence in Nigeria’s Extractive Sector (2021)

The national survey on gender-based violence in Nigeria’s extractive sector was a comprehensive baseline research initiative undertaken to examine the various manifestations and prevalence of gender-based violence within this critical industry. Commissioned by the African Centre for Leadership & Strategy (CentreLSD) – with funding from the Ford Foundation and conducted in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in 2021, this study involved a wide range of research tasks aimed at shedding light on the challenges faced by women and girls working within the extractive sector.

This national survey served as a critical foundation for understanding the complex dynamics of gender-based violence in the extractive sector in Nigeria, ultimately contributing to evidence-based interventions and policies aimed at creating safer and more inclusive workplaces within the industry.
